Ian Woolford v Shahrukh Khan

La Trobe University is in Australia. It has a 'Hindi lecturer' called Ian Woolford who had this to say about Shah Rukh Khan- “I got to chat with him briefly and I just said, in Hindi, congratulations on your honorary degree,” Ian recalled as he reflected on the packed out event attended by students who came in droves to catch a glimpse of their favourite Hindi film star. “I also quickly let him know about what we do and the Hindi program at the University. The students learn from watching scenes from his films so it was quite special to have him here. I think he was quite overwhelmed with the whole day; it must have been quite an experience for him to have a University honour his lifetime achievements in such a way.”

This is crazy shit. SRK already had honorary doctorates from Edinburgh and London- both of which are prestigious Universities. Bedforshire, like La Trobe, is a recent creations which few have heard of. I suppose their award of Doctorates had something to do with the increased importance of immigrant Asian communities.  However, SRK himself would rate highest his Honorary Doctorate from Maulana Azad National Urdu University in Hyderabad because it was presented by President Pranab Mukherjee.

Is Ian Woolford an elderly Australian from the outback? If so he might well believe that some little brown dude from the land of snake-charmers and elephants was bowled over by the bright lights of La Trobe. Strangely enough, no. The dude is a youngish American who wanted to be a singer and ended up with a PhD in some stupid shit from Texas. He has visited India. Yet he thinks SRK was 'overwhelmed' by his fifth honorary Doctorate. Why? The answer, I'm afraid, is that he is a narcissistic, racist, cunt. That's why he is an academic. But Australia can do better. It is emerging as a Higher Education hub in all sorts of STEM subjects. That's what La Trobe should concentrate on. Scrap the Hindi program. It makes the whole campus look retarded.
