Soros vs Modi

George Soros made the following foolish and false statements at the Munich Security Conference.

“It (India) is a democracy,

No democracy has a dynasty which fully controls the national party which has ruled the country for eighty per cent of the time till 2014. Modi is the first non-Dynast to win and retain a majority.  It is likely he will get a third term because only the Crown- or Clown- Prince of the Dynasty has been offered as an alternative.

On the other hand, India- because it is overwhelmingly Hindu- hasn't committed the sort of horrible crimes democracies tend to get up to.

but its leader, Narendra Modi, is no democrat.

Indira and Rajiv and Sonia and Rahul were no democrats. They were dynasts. Nehru was a democrat. His authority stemmed from the fact that voters saw him as the least bad alternative.  Vajpayee was a Parliamentarian and, in that sense, a democrat. However, like most Indians, he would have supported a Dictatorship which focused on raising incomes and improving security.

Mod, on the other hand, is a democrat because he saw what happened during Indira's brief period of dictatorship. He himself risked life and liberty to fight her tyranny. Thus, he has been inoculated against the attractions of totalitarianism. The other point is that it is through Democratic politics that Hindus have been able to increasingly reject casteism and to come together on the basis of equality and mutuality.

Prior to Vajpayee, except for a brief period when the Congress party rebelled against the Dynasty, every Prime Minister either belonged to the dynasty or was a sycophant or puppet of the dynasty or- in the case of V.P Singh- was a turncoat whose career quickly imploded. But Vajpayee was succeeded by Manmohan, the most abject puppet and sycophant the Dynasty ever had.

Inciting violence against Muslims was an important factor in his meteoric rise.

No. Appealing to Hindu sentiment- in particular the Hindu desire to rebuild the Ayodhya Temple- helped Modi (who helped organize the Rath and Ekta Yatras)- and enabled the BJP to rise back to the level they had reached in 1977 when the RSS had played a crucial role in opposing Indira's tyranny. However, Modi was elevated to the Chief Minister's post in Gujarat before there were any riots. It was his organizational ability and skill at governance which enabled to become, first, the most successful CM his State has ever had, and now the best PM India has known.

As for Muslims, they were slaughtered on Nehru's watch and were stripped of all the entitlements they had previously secured. It is foolish to suggest that killing a cowed minority can win anybody votes. Otherwise, everybody would be at it.

If a minority is foolish enough to attack the majority in South Asia- it gets stomped. Equally, if Islamists are foolish enough to carry out a terrorist attack on America, there is a terrible war of revenge of a wholly asymmetric type in which millions of completely innocent Muslims are killed or displaced.

Modi maintains close relations with both open and closed societies.”

Modi pursues India's national interest. Like everybody else, he doesn't give a toss about 'open and closed societies'.

“Modi and business tycoon Adani are close allies”, “their fate is intertwined”,

This is nonsense. Adani got his first leg up under Congress governments at the Center and the State. Businessmen like him are close to whoever is in power. Chimanbhai gave him a leg up as did Vaghela. Keshubhai was closest to him. Adani prospered under Modi because Gujarat prospered under Modi. But it was Manmohan who gave him his biggest break. Currently, Adani is courted by Gehlot and Mamta and Vijayan and so forth.

The question we might ask is why Adani is so vital to building infrastructure? The answer is simple. In the early Nineties, Manmohan and Montek etc. could have got the World Bank- headed by Edwin Lim, fresh from similar success in China- to arrange the financing for mega-infrastructure projects. Sadly, India's activists- the sort of cunts who are now on Soros's payroll one way or the other- killed off this type of development. More established business houses too got harassed if they committed to a big project. That is why the baton was passed to new promoters. Adani- who left school at 15- is now set to become a bigger folk-hero than Dhirubhai. Who will play him in the bio-pic? Abhishek and Aihwariya, it will be remembered, played the Ambani husband and wife in Mani Ratnam's blockbuster. Thanks to Soros, Adani and his wife- with whom he plays gin rummy- will get an even more lavish Bollywood makeover because of the Nationalist 'Atma Nirbhar' twist to the narrative.

Of course, it is possible that Adani will crash and burn like Anil Ambani. But Anil's fall didn't bring down any politician. The plain fact is that even a Rajiv Gandhi can be brought down if there is a suspicion that bribes were taken. Modi- because he has no family to enrich- is above suspicion. The entire corporate sector can go down the toilet and he will continue to rise. Nehru and his daughter ensured that Indian 'oligarchs' would have no power over the political class. That was what was meant by 'Socialism'. Soros's America or Zelensky's Ukraine are different in that regard.

“Adani is accused of stock manipulation”,

Soros was found guilty of insider trading by the French in 2002. He spent a lot of money trying to get this verdict reversed but failed.

Unlike Soros, Adani makes useful stuff. People will forgive him if he tried to sucker Soros type speculators. If foreign investors take a haircut on Adani bonds, Indians will be delighted.

Soros is hated by Muslims because Mahathir painted him as the main conspirator behind the East Asian crash of the late Nineties. Thanks to his attacks on Modi, Soros is now hated by Hindus too.

“Modi is silent on the subject,

Modi will take credit for Adani's prevailing over foreigners- if that is the outcome. But, for the moment, his best play is to let Rahul make a fool of himself on this issue.

but he will have to answer questions from foreign investors

Fuck off!

and in Parliament”.

Where he will perform well.

The wider question is how India will pay for infrastructure and what it will do to the activists who get funded by the likes of Soros so as to prevent India developing. These are not intrinsically difficult issues to resolve but we won't see anything substantive till after the general election. Thanks to Soros- and the cretins he funds- like Salil Shetty- Rahul will double down on the Adani issue in the belief that it is Modi's Bofors. But Rajiv was believed, by his own Cabinet colleagues, to have pocketed money. That isn't the case with Modi or Yogi- his possible successor.
