Moustafa Bayoumi's broken world

Ten years ago, there were people who thought China might give up Tibet if the West applied enough pressure. Eight years ago there were people who thought that Western Sanctions could stop China from setting up re-education camps for Muslims in Xinjiang or clamping down on Hong Kong. Now, few believe Taiwan's occupation by China can be avoided.

The world is now a very different place from what it was when Biden came to power saying 'America is back'. Immigrants would be welcomed. Diversity, Inclusivity and Equity would be the watchwords of the West.

Since then, thanks to Hamas, some sacred cows- e.g. a two state solution for Palestine- have been butchered before our eyes. With Trump's return, what remains to be seen is whether naturalized citizens, perhaps even citizens by birth, who stage protests concerning their countries of origins might be considered a nuisance and deported. After all, if Palestinians are right to be wish to eliminate 'immigrant' Jews, Europe and America might decide to eliminate all Asian or African immigrants- if they make trouble.

Currently, both Pakistan and Iran are deporting Afghans en masse. But the US and some European countries seem to be going in the same direction. Lawfare by the Left is a nuisance which is easily curbed. As for Campus protests, they have been a gift to the Right since the time when Berkeley students helped Reagan get re-elected Governor.

Universities may have been 'safe spaces' for those of a particular ideology. But the same tactics used by the Left can be used against them. Since a lot of academics are perceived to be useless and stupid, the voter has no interest in defending them. Consider the case of a young Jew at MIT doing a PhD in some lucrative high tech type of computing who was personally attacked by a Haitian Professor of Creole and thus driven out of the University. The young Jew will generate wealth for America because he is smart and is doing useful research. The Haitian is useless. Deport him and a nuisance is curbed. What if the young Jew goes off to China? The Chinese will kill any Muslim or Haitian or African who tries to get tough with Jews on campus.

True, lots of people don't like Jews. But it is only Islam which seems to think it virtuous to kill kaffirs. The fact that Muslims kill each other with greater vim and vigour isn't actually a point in their favour. The fact is killing is bad for business no matter who is doing it. If dividends go down, an ageing population has to work longer for lower pensions. Non-Violence may be a Christian virtue. It is a Capitalist necessity.

The post-Gaza world may be one in which darkies like me are in danger of deportation. There's a slippery slope from deporting Muslim terrorists to just getting rid of any damn furriner who isn't paying a lot in taxes. Still, since the alternative is getting dragged into a nuclear war, maybe it is a good thing if diasporas which pose a political nuisance are quietly shown the door or given the 're-education' treatment

Moustafa Bayoumi, of Egyptian heritage, and an Edward Said-like academic of useless shite takes a different view.
The destruction of Palestine is breaking the world
Moustafa Bayoumi

It hasn't broken Bayoumi's ancestral Egypt. El-Sisi is sitting pretty. The Brotherhood seems to have gained no advantage there from Hamas's atrocities. Currently it appears that Iran was the big loser from its client's antics. Assad is gone. Hezbollah appears to be pulling in its horns and Trump just used bunker buster bombs on its nuclear facilities. This means it withdraws from the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty which in turn means that investment has to shift from proxies to arsenals, delivery systems, and anti-missile missiles. One reason for this is that the Sunni Arabs would love to see Iran and Israel annihilate each other with a nuclear exchange. This would also take care of the Palestinian problem.

True, Israel will be missed. It is a knowledge economy. Iran won't be missed.

Sereen Haddad is a bright young woman. At 20 years old, she just finished a four-year degree in psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in only three years, earning the highest honors along the way.

Sadly, Psychology is seen as a shitty degree.

Yet, despite her accomplishments, she still can’t graduate. Her diploma is being withheld by the university, “not because I didn’t complete the requirements”, she told me, “but because I stood up for Palestinian life.”

Why not go do it in Gaza rather than Virginia?

Haddad, who is Palestinian American,

is probably being profiled by Intelligence Agencies. She isn't a terrorist, but may be treated as such. The UK has just declared 'Palestine Action' a terrorist organization. I don't suppose WASP members of such outfits will do much jail type. But darkies, even if second or third generation, may be less lucky. It would be easy to show that when they phone granny, they are actually communicating with a cousin who is part of Hamas or ISIS or whatever.

had been raising awareness on her campus about the Palestinian fight for freedom as part of her university’s chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine. The struggle is also personal for her. With roots in Gaza, she has lost more than 200 members of her extended family to Israel’s war.

Hamas started that war. Palestinians will lose territory- again. Israel, compensates itself with real-estate for lives it loses. A few Palestinians may become billionaires based in Doha or Dubai, and there are probably plenty of young Palestinians enjoying activism on various campuses, but the price is paid by those who weren't able to emigrate from Gaza or, now, even the West Bank.

The presence of Arabs demanding death for kaffrs and homosexuals and so forth in America and Europe has chipped away what White peeps thought acceptable- viz. darkies coming in to do the dirty jobs and fill skill-shortages- and created a nightmare where Zohran Mamdani taxes bagels so as to subsidize suicide bombers.

Israel’s war in Gaza is chipping away at so much of what we – in the United States but also internationally – had agreed upon as acceptable,

An endless stream of refugees from Islamic and other shitholes?

from the rules governing our freedom of speech to the very laws of armed conflict.

Rules change if freedoms are abused or a nuisance is created.

It seems no exaggeration to say that the foundation of the international order of the last 77 years is threatened by this change in the obligations governing our legal and political responsibilities to each other.

Israel was part of that international order. Hamas wasn't. It is was and is a terrorist entity.

We are ignoring the collapse of the international system that has defined our lives for generations at our own collective peril.

Egypt and Saudi Arabia and UAE seem to have guarded themselves against the peril posed by Palestinians well enough.  The international system would have welcomed a two state solution. The Palestinians could provide no such thing.

This collapse began with the liberal world’s lack of resolve to rein in Israel’s war in Gaza.

There was never any such resolve. The liberal world had spent a lot of money killing 1.3 million mainly Muslim people and displacing tens of million more. That was a war of revenge from which the West gained nothing. Israel may gain some more real estate.

It escalated when no one lifted a finger to stop hospitals being bombed. It expanded when mass starvation became a weapon of war. And it is peaking at a time when total war is no longer viewed as a human abhorrence but is instead the deliberate policy of the state of Israel.

NATO's defence policy is based on mutually assured destruction. Fuck total war. We are talking about blowing up the entire globe. The question is whether in emulating China's industrial and infrastructure policies, Western countries will go in for 're-education' rather than deportation.  Perhaps, nothing very drastic will happen. Some nutters will be jailed and some University Departments will get defunded.

The implications of this collapse are profound for international, regional and even domestic politics. Political dissent is repressed, political language is policed, and traditionally liberal societies are increasingly militarized against their own citizens.

The Palestinians want third or fourth generation Jewish immigrants to fuck off. But Americans and Europeans might decide to take a leaf out of their playbook.

Bayoumi doesn't get that a student who is expelled from campus suffers little compared to families who are deported just because their cousins or second cousins are terrorists or live in terrorist sponsoring countries. Sadly, not being Muslim won't save those of immigrant background. It will be a case of in for a penny, in for a pound.
