America has lost a lot of friends in the Middle East and South Asia thanks to its self-defeating war on terror and Biden's passion for the Magnitsky act. Some leftists in America want to further help China by demonizing India. There is some push-back against this type of stupidity. India for its part will simply put a Visa ban 'academics' and 'activists' who claim to be Indologists or Anthropologists or whatever. Furthermore, foreign money to finance these nutters in India will be blocked at source. A portion of the 'woke' eco-system will simply disappear.

Last week, a clutch of writers were reported to have withdrawn from the Jaipur Literature Festival in New York City to protest the invitation to a Bharatiya Janata Party leader to deliver the keynote address at the event. As was to be expected, the BJP leader said this was an example of how intolerant liberals hated opinions that are different from their own.
Who withdrew? So far we know of two- Marie Brenner- a 72 year old journalist- and Amy Waldman, also a journalist, who wrote a book about Afghanistan. Neither have any current knowledge of India nor do they appear to have made any statement on this matter.

There is no such law. What is forbidden is forcible conversion. But that arises from the fundamental right to religious freedom.

Just as in Saudi Arabia Muslim girls in a Girls College are not allowed to wear hijab inside the class-room.
There is no such bar on Hindus or Sikhs, wearing religious symbols.
But those religious symbols don't obscure the identity or gender of the wearer. It is obvious that a Girls' School should not allow hijab to be worn inside the classroom so boys can't sneak in. Also, the teacher should be able to see the face of the student to know whether they are day-dreaming or concentrating.
Muslims institutions, madrasas and mosques are seen as suspicious places and the authorities have time and again expressed their intention to bring them under state control.
Not in India. But something like this has happened in France and some other countries. In Muslim countries, there would be more not less such control.
Besides these laws, street violence against Muslims and Christians is a frequent occurrence.
Even more frequent is attacks on Hindus by fanatics of other religions.

Apoorvanand doesn't get that Hindus genuinely hate Muslims. A few may pretend otherwise and those who live abroad may genuinely not understand this but it is a fact. The bigger fact is that Muslims are hardworking and decent. Their presence may be disliked but as people see there are tangible benefits from their flourishing, they put aside their hate. I believe this is happening in Europe. England was a little different because English writers- Gibbon, Carlyle, W.S Blunt- expressed admiration for the Prophet and 'the Arabian Nights' created a very attractive picture of the Islamic Orient. Sofas, from Safavi Iran, and Ottomans, we will always have with us. As for the Sylheti 'chicken tikka masala' it became our national dish.

Meanwhile, poor old Apoorvanand wasn't even given an invite which he could subsequently refuse. That's what galls our Hindi lecturer.
