Tariq Ali on why Gazans are celebrating.

Vivek Junior, my beloved son, has the right to exist. But he doesn't. Why? I am only willing to have sex with wealthy super-models. Sadly, they find me utterly repulsive. Thus my right to have a son can't currently be realized.

Tariq Ali asks-

Do Palestinians have the right to resist?

Yes. Exercising that right may, however, cause certain Palestinians to cease to exist. But this is true of any right of resistance we may have. I can resist handing over my wallet to a mugger. But I don't do so because the fucker will stab me and grab it anyway.

The unequivocal answer is yes

But that answer is meaningless.

Throughout history, subjugated people, from Spartacus to anti-colonial fighters, have claimed this fundamental right for themselves.

Spartacus was killed. His slave revolt failed. Plenty of anti-colonial fighters were slaughtered before global economic changes made it unprofitable to have colonies. Some peoples with a claim to forming their own sovereign nations were able to make good that claim by setting up sovereign states which were economically viable, militarily defensible, and politically cohesive. Pakistan was not one such entity. The Bengalis went their own way creating the state of Bangladesh with the help of the Indian Army. Currently, there may be Baluchis who want an independent Baluchistan. They aren't going to get it. Their 'fundamental right' is ineffective because nobody will supply the remedy they need against its violation.

As I write this, Gaza is still being bombed,

because it came under the control of a crazy Muslim Brotherhood entity. The Egyptians kicked out the Brotherhood within a year of its taking power because it was utterly shit at running things. The Gazans aren't going to return to Hamas rule unless that is what Israel wants and can deliver at the point of a bayonet.

its citizens massacred by a state that has dehumanised itself as well as its powerful supporters (Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is among the more recent apologists, and New Delhi is the only significant global city where there has been no demonstration against Israeli war crimes)

Modi is a kaffir. He should be killed. Why are the kaffirs in India supporting him? Can't they just slit their own throats and make a present of the place to some Caliphate or the other?

Kaffirs are totally dehumanized. Indeed, some of them have embraced Capitalism which is very very evil.

over the years, each decade worse than the one before.

Sadly, there are other Muslim states in the MENA where each decade is worse than the previous one. But that isn't the fault of kaffirs- even Capitalist kaffirs.

There is no moral, political, or military equivalence as far as the two sides are concerned. Israel is a nuclear state, armed to the teeth by the US. Its existence is not under threat. It is the Palestinians, their lands, and their lives that are under permanent attack.

Only if those lands are used to attack a much stronger State. After the Muslim Brotherhood was chased out of Egypt, El Sisi sealed the border with Gaza even more tightly than the Israelis did.

This must be resisted by all means necessary. Or is it that Western civilisation is going to stand by while the indirect victims of the Judeocide are also gradually exterminated or expelled from their homes?

Yes. Western civilization takes a dim view of Islamist terror.

A new nakba (Arabic for catastrophe) has been in motion for some years. That is what this dispute is now about.

No. The 'dispute' is about destroying Hamas and Islamic Jihad. The Brotherhood and its offshoots must be eradicated from Gaza as they have been eradicated from Egypt. Still, it is very funny to watch Hanafi Arab Muslims being slaughtered for the benefit of Shiah Iran.

The Far-Right regime in Israel with some serious fascists in key posts is using exterminist language and threats and carrying some of them out.

Just as the Far-Right regime of Obama carried out a lot of threats against innocent Muslims in Tariq Ali's native Pakistan. To his credit, Im the Dim, spoke out against this a decade ago. He says the Americans have toppled him. Fuck you Biden you disgusting little kaffir! Fuck you very much indeed!

They are, as usual, blaming the victims for the war crimes that are taking place.

No. They are blaming Hamas and PIJ who are using the innocent civilians of Gaza as human shields.

The New York Times, which once published pieces telling lies about Iraq (weapons of mass destruction, etc.), is carrying on in the same way by backing the absurd and discredited propaganda that accuses Palestinian groups of having bombed a hospital in Gaza.

No. They say a Hamas rocket misfired and caused the catastrophic fire. That is entirely plausible. Saddam's mistake was to pretend to have WMD when he didn't. Anyway, even if he had fired a nuke at Israel, Bush and Blair still wanted Iraqi oil to finance their stupid war of revenge. To be fair, ordinary voters in the UK and US thought we could make a profit on Gulf War 2 just as we had done on Gulf War 1. Pakistan was an ally in both those wars while Hindu India held aloof because those kaffirs have some religious objection to the slaughtering of innocent Muslims and Christians even if they live in foreign countries.

But very few are falling for the propaganda this time.

Because they know Biden is secretly a Hindu in a gay marriage with Narendra Modi. Nobody is falling for the propaganda that Modi isn't bumming Biden every chance he gets. What to do? Kaffirs are like that only.

Every untruth has been challenged and answered by the huge demonstrations taking place.

Sadly, I was turned away from a recent demonstration because my placard depicted Modi bumming Biden. It was pointed out to me that I had made Modi's dick look much bigger than it actually is. Al Jazeera has aired many documentaries showing that Modi has a tiny todger. Also, Biden wears lipstick and mascara. Details like this are important. Otherwise the proletariat will continue to fall for the propaganda of White Supremacists like Rishi Sunak.

The Israelis want as many Gazan Palestinians killed as possible, with northern Gaza occupied by Israeli troops and southern Gaza decimated by weekly targeting to drive people into Egypt.

El Sisi has sealed that border very tightly. Israel needs a ceasefire, now it has established its corridor and done encirclement because the terrorists in the tunnels have 3 months supply of food and fuel. Perhaps they can be starved into submission. Ex Israeli PM, Bennett has suggested that Israel will offer to let Hamas be evacuated by sea to Turkey or Algeria or Malaysia or any country which will take them.

They will move on to the West Bank soon.

They are currently grabbing land there.

As Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu boasted at the UN, there will only be one Israel in the shape of an authoritarian apartheid state.

Just as there is only one Iran which is highly authoritarian and which neglects its Arab and Baloch Sunni minorities.

That is, in fact, what most Israeli leaders have wanted and from the very beginning. Labour and Likud have adopted different styles, but the aim is the same. Eretz Israel.

Pakistan's aim is to deport Afghans. Iran wants to expel an even greater number. Both have the same aim- domination of the world by Muslims though this may involve deporting poor Muslims to even poorer Afghanistan.

In December 1987, after a traffic accident on the Gaza-Israeli border saw four Palestinians killed, a new intifada erupted in Palestine, shaking Israel as well as the Arab elites.

Sadly, economic boycott failed because Jews from the former Soviet Union flooded in.  Still, Arafat's unilateral declaration of an independent Palestine in 1988 appeared to herald the formation of a sovereign Palestinian entity which might be economically viable thanks to a well educated and enterprising diaspora.

It started spontaneously and spread rapidly. The Israeli historian Benny Morris, despite his own Zionist views, described it accurately: “It was not an armed rebellion, but a massive, persistent campaign of civil resistance, with strikes and commercial shut-downs, accompanied by violent (but unarmed) demonstrations against the occupying forces. The stone and, occasionally, the Molotov cocktail and knife were its symbols.” How did the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) respond? Back to Morris: “Almost everything was tried: shooting to kill, shooting to injure, beatings, mass arrests, torture, trials, administrative detention, and economic sanctions… a great many (of the Palestinian dead) were children.”

Killing civilians is foolish. Israel needed to end its reliance on Palestinian labour. Sadly, this turned out to be bad for Palestinians though, to be fair, this was not obvious at the time.  Apparently, India is sending a 100,000 nurses and builders to replace lost labour from Gaza.

The uprising took both the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) leadership in Tunis and the Israeli regime by surprise. Yasser Arafat sent feelers to Yitzhak Rabin via Norwegian intermediaries, and after much secret negotiations the Oslo conference took place.

Bush had been trying to broker a deal but gave up once Saddam invaded Kuwait. But for that lunatic, maybe a viable Palestinian state could have been created. Arafat erred grievously in supporting Saddam. That's why Clinton thought he was now so weak that he'd do a deal and keep to its terms. Sadly, Arafat overplayed his hand. After 9/11, the Palestinian cause lost salience. If the Saudis couldn't keep the Americans from invading Iraq and toppling the Sunni regime there, what hope had any Muslim country of helping the Palestinians? With the rise of Hamas and after the 'Arab Spring', there was a brief moment of optimism. Perhaps Morsi could help his brothers in Gaza while maintaining good relations with the Gulf and the Saudis. Sadly, his Leninist party turned out to be utterly shite at democratic politics. Worse yet, they didn't follow the three Cees of Islamic politics- Consultation, Compromise on details not principles, and building Consensus- Ijma). El Sisi, it turns out, is a friggin' genius at populist politics. Two years ago, it appeared that Erdogan had repented siding with the Brotherhood. I suppose that is why the high command green-lit this Iran backed operation. It is hilarious to watch Sunni Arabs being slaughtered for the greater glory of Persian Shiahs.

It was a direct result of the intifada. The leadership of the actual intifada was sidelined. The Israelis preferred to deal with the PLO.

Unlike the Brotherhood, the PLO was 'broad church'. Sadly, its leader overplayed his hand and Saddam's craziness proved fatal to his plans.

A few weeks later, the grand old Syrian poet Nizar Qabbani

whose Iraqi wife was killed in a bombing of the Iraqi embassy by Shiah militants

wrote a long poem, “The Trilogy of the Children of Stones”, in which he denounced the older generation of Palestinian leaders (today represented by the corrupt, collaborationist Palestinian Authority). It was sung and recited in many an Arab and Palestinian café:

It was recited in many a cafe or restaurant in London, where Qabbani thought it safer to spend the last 15 years of his life. It seems his great love for all the cities of the Arab world did not prevent his relishing the superior safety and comforts the British provide.

The children of the stones

have scattered our papers

spilled ink on our clothes

mocked the banality of old texts…

But it was Shiah militants who had blown up this dude's beloved wife. By moving to London, the poet protected himself from both children of stones and crazy religious fanatics.

O Children of Gaza

Don’t mind our broadcasts

Don’t listen to us

Ignore the fuck out of us till we get somewhere safe like London.

We are the people of cold calculation

Londoners tend to be very good at business calculation which is why the City of London makes so much money

Of addition, of subtraction

Wage your wars and leave us alone

We are dead and tombless

He had a nice enough house in London. Previously he had resided in Paris and Geneva.

Orphans with no eyes.

Children of Gaza

Don’t refer to our writings

Don’t be like us.

For fuck's sake don't turn up on our doorsteps in London or Paris

We are your idols

Don’t worship us.

O mad people of Gaza,

A thousand greetings to the mad

From a guy who had run away from that madness after his wife was killed.

The age of political reason has long

departed

So teach us madness…

But do it from Gaza while we remain comfortably ensconced in London.

The Palestinian people and their organisations have tried every method to achieve some form of meaningful self-determination.

Sadly, this involved murdering each other.

Every Israeli political party has sabotaged this hope.

But so did every Arab leader who had to deal with those fractious leaders the Palestinians were saddled with.

“Renounce violence,” they were told.

Or suffer it. I once tried to attack and eat the baby. He beat the shit out of me crowing with delight. Then he fell asleep as did I. His Mummy, very unfairly, suggested I liked cuddling the baby whereas the truth is I was the abject victim of his pitiless blows. Indeed, he threw away my glasses and tried to eat my nose. After that, I was very deferential to him.

They did, despite the odd response to an Israeli atrocity.

Israeli responses to atrocities committed against them are predictable. They aren't odd at all. Sadly, they don't feature sodomy and thus can't be endorsed by Queer Theory.

There was massive support among Palestinians at home and in the diaspora for the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to put pressure on Israel.

Investment in Israel went up as a result. Having a Knowledge Economy is a good thing. Exporting terrorists and tedious poets is a bad thing.

Here was a peaceful movement par excellence and it has been partially successful.

It failed utterly.

Precisely for this reason, the US and its NATO family have been trying to criminalise it in Europe and America.

They have also been killing or locking up plenty of people who look like Tariq Ali. I wonder why?

To support BDS and defend the Palestinians apparently encourages ‘anti-Semitism’, as defined by weightless organisations such as the Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR).

What encourages hatred of non-Muslims is Pakistan.  You can take the boy out of the Pind, but you can't take the paranoid hate-monger out of the elderly Pakistani Leftist- unless they have made a lot of money in real estate and are making a lot more in partnership with a Jewish hedge fund manager.

As I write, the newest version of the Labour Party in the UK has banned meetings during its conference that use the word “apartheid” in their advertising.

Good for Starmer. We desperately need an alternative to Tory fratricide.

The Labour Left is too scared of being expelled and has fallen silent on the issue.

Chance would be a fine thing.

A sorry state of affairs in this country. South Africa, Bolivia, Venezuela, Chile, and Mexico support BDS and the Palestinian cause.

These are all countries sensible people are running away from.

Neither Türkiye nor Egypt nor most of the Arab states speak up for the Palestinians.

Hamas says it doesn't give a shit about the Gazans. It is the UN's job to look after them.

And the keeper of the holiest of holy Muslim cities, Saudi Arabia, is currently negotiating recognising the Israel government with the White House. The latest events might delay the process. Not much more.

But it buys the Brotherhood a much needed respite. Two years ago, when they began planning this atrocity, it looked like Erdogan was going to crack down on them or even kick them out. After all, he gave short shrift to the Gulenists. Why would he- who seeks to revive Ottoman glory- play footsie with a party committed to the establishment of a Sunni, Arab, Caliphate? True, currently they are Iran's cat's paw. But that is because they are as stupid as shit.

Palestinians have pursued diverse avenues for self-determination, only to find their hopes consistently thwarted by

nutters and opportunists in the pay of rival Islamic powers.

every Israeli political party.

There is an Arab Israeli party.

However, their resistance against oppression, notably through movements like BDS, has garnered international recognition.

It has garnered the recognition that the thing is a fucking nuisance. Black Lives Matter & Me-Too have traction because lots of peeps are dark skinned or lack a dick.

Contrary to the belief that Palestinians were resigned to apathy and despair, a rude awakening has come to those who held such notions.

No. The belief was that Hamas would play nice so as to benefit the people it ruled over. It turns out the Brotherhood doesn't give a shit about its actual Muslim brothers.

For decades, the IDF has attacked and killed Palestinians at leisure.

Whereas terrorists cutting the throat of kaffirs were only doing so during office hours.

A handful of retired IDF Generals and their Mossad equivalents admit that what is being done to the Palestinians is shameful, but what is the point of saying this after they have retired?

They get some publicity and maybe a little money from some Foundation.

The IDF and Mossad have backed the fascism of the settlers in occupied territory and stood by as they burn houses, destroy olive plantations, pour cement in wells, drive Palestinians out, chant “Death to the Arabs”, target and kill young men, and all with hardly a murmur from Western leaders.

Because Western leaders spent a couple of trillion dollars killing or displacing tens of millions of Muslims. Even Im the Dim noticed that Obama and Biden were happy to kill Pakistanis or to kidnap and kill their honoured guest- Osama. Meanwhile Tariq believes that Rishi Sunak weeps tears of blood for the sufferings of Afghans expelled from Iran and Pakistan.

Then one day the elected Palestinian leadership in Gaza

when was it elected? Over 15 years ago. Has it held elections since? No. Don't be silly. Incidentally, Morsi was democratically elected. But the Brotherhood was so shitty that everybody backed Sisi when he took a knife to its collective throat.

decides to fight back. The headlines on this event bring Palestinians back into the news. Shock, horror. They are resisting again!

Hamas attacked. Currently it is 'resisting'. But for how much longer? Three months? What happens when they have to crawl out of their tunnels? Will any Muslim country send a ship to get them? Perhaps. The Brotherhood's operatives are making hay while the sun shines. They may be able to get protection for their deranged killers. After all, there are plenty of dictators who want to do some ethnic cleansing of kaffirs.

Why should they not? They know better than most that the Far-Right government in Israel will retaliate viciously, backed as usual by the US and the mealy-mouthed European Union. What did they think? That there would be no blowback at all? And that Netanyahu and some of the criminals in his Cabinet would slowly expel or kill most of the Palestinians? Let there be no doubt. Some of the fascist elements in the Israeli government have quite openly said they will initiate mass killings of Palestinians. One of them described them as “human animals”. The Nazis referred to Jews, Slavs, the Roma, the disabled as Untermensch, the subhuman.

Churchill, by contrast, was always referring to Hitler as an esteemed colleague. It was only Mahatma Gandhi he didn't like.

The fact is, if a country has a stupid or crazy leader- like Hitler or Saddam or Gaddafi- it may pay a great price for decades unless an Army of Occupation imposes a good 'rule set' on it. But this is the crux of the problem. Some civilizations may be unable to adopt a modern type of 'rule set'. The best we can hope for is a benevolent monarch or dynastic dictator.

Jewish liberals in Israel and the diaspora are upset that Bibi Netanyahu is trying to neuter the highest court in the land to protect himself against very serious charges of corruption. But the sustained and mammoth demonstrations in Tel Aviv by Israelis to defend their Supreme Court against the Far-Right government’s threats cut little ice as far as Palestinians are concerned. They know full well that most of the marchers who defend Jewish civil rights do not care a whit for the rights of Palestinians. They know that this same Supreme Court is part of the apartheid state’s systematic oppression of the occupied and besieged Palestinians on the West Bank and in Gaza.

That's true enough. Essentially, the Bench might declare a particular seizure illegal but then grant it was legal because it was covered by military law.  This is why violence instigated by 'settlers' can result in the legal transfer of land. The military says it needs a particular patch of land to uphold law and order and then it turns out that this patch of land is exactly the one the settlers wanted their mitts on. Still, real estate grabs go on all around the globe. A Communist government in West Bengal fell because it grabbed agricultural land for certain favoured industrialists. Sadly, the dispossessed peasants are now worse off than before precisely because their land, now unusable, has been returned to them. Still, at least they have the satisfaction of watching Mamta's goons beat and kill the goons of the Communists- unless, of course, they changed sides.

Do the oppressed Palestinians have a right to resist the non-stop aggression to which they are subjected? There can be only one answer: Yes.

If so, the indigenous Cockneys of London have a right to kick out dusky immigrants like Rishi or Tariq. Not me, however. I am actually very white skinned. I just don't bathe very often.

Subjugated people have long asserted their right to resist. This is a right they give themselves, a right that goes far back to Spartacus and Toussaint L’Ouverture, leaders, respectively, of white slaves against the Roman Empire and black slaves against the French Empire.

Spartacus failed. Haiti isn't exactly a shining success.

This is what anti-colonial resistance fighters did throughout the 20th century: China,

which has been very good at slaughtering or starving to death lots and lots of Chinese people- not to mention Uyghurs, Tibetans, etc.

Vietnam,

Which had good political leadership and a truly outstanding military commander. But it is China which currently menaces it.

Korea,

North Korea turned out peachy- righ?

Algeria,

which isn't a great place for Islamists.

Angola, Mozambique, and so on.

If you love Angola so much, why don't you marry it? I believe it has plenty of natural resources.

To exclude Palestinians from this list because

they have shit leadership

the forebears of those who occupy, torture, kill, destroy are the descendants of those who were burnt in the Judeocide no longer serves as a justification of the Second World War,

Tariq is Punjabi. This is Punjabi logic. The fact is, what justified Hitler's invasions was Germany's need for land and resources.  The Allies were justified in fighting him by the fact that they would lose economically if they failed to fuck the fuck out of the Fuhrer.

Tariq believes that Stalin lurved Jews and that is why he... concluded a pact with Hitler which the latter broke.

an event that the Allies watched and did nothing to prevent.

Mahatma Gandhi went the extra mile by suggesting that the Jews should cooperate in their own annihilation. Muslims were gratified by this kindly suggestion.

The Jewish Agency asked Churchill to bomb the Treblinka and Auschwitz concentration camps, to raze them to the ground. They were told that the RAF was busy.

Which was true enough.

This guilt felt by Europe

what guilt? Europeans really don't give a shit about Jews, darkies, homos and so forth. They do care about what is in their own economic interests. It turns out, Israel exports useful things. Palestine exported terror. But Boko Haram does it better and more cheaply.

is a partial explanation of their refusal to understand that Palestinians, too, are indirect victims of the Judeocide.

Their great leader, the Grand Mufti, was a big pal of Hitler. He thought 'Judeocide' an excellent idea. What is puzzling is why the Nazis gassed those people instead of raping them to death while chopping off bits of their anatomy. Truly, the kuffar are lazy swine.

Many anti-Zionist Jewish friends of mine sometimes say that it would have been much better had the six million not been killed and we had been spared a Zionist entity in Palestine.

I have no Jewish friends. This is because I keep telling them about how I lost my Mum at Auschwitz. True, my sister texted me quickly enough saying she'd found her sitting on the wrong tourist bus- still, it is a trauma I have to live with. Jews should understand this and supply me with single Malt so I can 'self-medicate'.

No longer on the back burner

Out of the frying pan, into the fire.

The Israelis are waiting for a green light from the US to march into Gaza and destroy more buildings and kill more people.

Rishi is waiting for green light from Modi before marching into Tariq's office and brutally sodomizing him.

They have not yet obtained permission from the White House to take on Hezbollah in Lebanon.

They are retaliating well enough. It appears that Iran isn't going to commit Hezbollah to the battle because it is much funnier to watch Hanafi Arabs getting slaughtered for the greater glory of the Aryan Shiah.

The US, worried by the closeness of Iran with China, is engaged in negotiations with Tehran and does not want a disruption at this moment.

Nobody does- save the Brotherhood. That is why knives are being sharpened for their throats. Still they have bought themselves a respite which might last a year or two. Much depends on the P.R initiatives of its operatives around the globe.

While the Israelis wait, they torture Gaza every day. They take hostages from both Gaza and the refugee settlements in the occupied lands.

But they don't themselves kill Jews. The problem with Muslim Brotherhoods is that they spend a lot of time killing their Muslim brothers.

They froth and fume because they know that the Palestinian offensive masterminded by Hamas has ignited mass global support for Palestine.

Shouting in the street is not a useful type of support. There were big 'not in my name' protests against the Iraq war. The thing was utterly useless. We only turned against Blair & Bush when we realized we were wasting our money. You can take my good name and call me a Fascist war-monger and I will laugh heartily and do a Basil Fawlty goose-stepping Hitler impression, but if you try to get me to pay for a stupid war, I will vote for the other guy.

The fact that the King of Jordan, a country that is little more than an American-Israeli protectorate, refused to meet with US President Joe Biden and made a sharp speech at the recent regional summit in which he defended self-determination and support for Palestine is a clear sign that the question of Palestine is no longer on the back burner.

It is a clear sign that everybody will shed crocodile tears while laughing heartily at the spectacle of Sunni Arabs getting slaughtered for the greater glory of the Aryan Shiah.

Meanwhile, Tariq has no tears to shed for the Afghans being deported in Pakistan.

Those who had imagined that the Palestinians were in the grip of an unshakeable apathy and despair have suffered a rude shock.

Their despair has got worse. No 'rude shock' occurs when the victims of a gangster regime starve to death. Look at the North Korean famine. It turned out providing relief was a bad idea. The dynasty got stronger and developed nukes. Now it is shipping arms to Russia.

This is the real triumph of the Hamas initiative,

No. The real triumph is that of Iran's.

but nobody in the US or EU world is demanding elections in Palestine.

Hamas will have to be exterminated before any such elections can be held.

They are scared by democracy.

Very true. Western countries are very scared of democracy. That's why they don't hold periodic elections. Did you know King Charle is ruling UK? He has 'Black Rod' with which he sodomizes dissidents. Look at BoJo's unkempt hair. You think an Old Etonian like Boris does not know how to comb his hair properly? Incessant sodomy by 'Black Rod' is causing his dishevelment. You yuropian peeple have been befooled by Media. You should listen to nice Punjabi gentleman to find out what is going on in world. No. I don't mean Rishi. He may be Punjabi but he is not nice at all.

They fear that Mahmoud Abbas and his minions will be swept aside and replaced by Hamas and possibly others. The Palestinian Authority has largely been discredited, just like Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in Egypt

who has capitalized on the pro-Palestine sentiment just as Erdogan has

and the King in Morocco.

who, like the other surviving kingdoms of the Arab world, has plenty of political savvy.

The size of the demonstrations in the Arab world has created an impressive unity from below. Half a million people on the streets of Morocco (which recognises Israel); two huge street assemblies numbered at over a quarter of a million each on successive days in Amman. Tahrir Square occupied in Cairo once again and flanked by hundreds of thousands on the streets in other parts of the city.

Tariq hasn't noticed that Sisi's people have orchestrated those demonstrations. The guy is brilliant.

The Algerian government is offering full support to the cause, and on many levels.

That Government slaughtered Islamists with vim and vigour. They aren't going to take in any of the Brotherhood's people- unless it is to slit their throats.

The Arab nation was divided into different states after the Ottoman Empire fell

the Ottomans neglected their Arab possessions. Erdogan wants to re-establish Ottoman glory. For some strange reason this does not enthuse Arabs or Kurds. The comedy here is of a Leninist party seeking an Arab, Sunni, Caliphate doing the bidding of Shia' Iran while hoping to be able to continue to reside in Turkey.

and these states were, for the most part, created by Britain and France as new acquisitions after the First World War.

No. The French and Italians created states there. The Brits held Aden and had a 'veiled protectorate' in Egypt. They did come in as a mandatory power in Iraq, Jordan, and Palestine. Its relations with the 'Trucial States' was generally good and mutually beneficial.

But Arab nationalism grew stronger and Egypt’s leader, Gamal Abdel Nasser, inspired the region.

He sent 70,000 soldiers to kill Yemenis. That wasn't a smart move at all.

There were attempts to unite that world. Israel, Britain, and France (without a US green light) invaded Egypt in 1956 but failed to topple Nasser.

Because Eisenhower pulled the plug.

The Indian Prime Minister at the time, Jawaharlal Nehru, backed Egypt strongly while Pakistan backed Britain. The most popular name for young children in Egypt that year was Jawahar.

Jawhar- a great Fatimid military leader.  The name is of Arabic origin.

During that 1956 war, Israel attacked and occupied Gaza for four months. What happened afterwards offers a possible model for today. In March 1957, the US ordered Israel to withdraw from Gaza. President Dwight Eisenhower used maximum verbal and diplomatic pressure and threatened sanctions. The Israelis withdrew.

The Gazans had been attacking Israel and then the Egyptian military got involved. That's why Israel joined Britain and France in their attempt to re-take the Suez canal.

It is reported that during a recent meeting between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, the Saudi Crown Prince, the latter was sharp-tongued

there is no point being polite to Blinkin' idiots. The Chinese showed that the fellow could be bullied.

and asked the American to order a ceasefire and end the siege of Gaza. This, of course, would be the simplest and most effective method to bring this phase to an end and free Gaza.

Why stop there? Why not get America to order everybody to convert to Islam?

Create a space and discuss a possible end to the crisis.

Discussing things with Punjabis is never a good idea. Concentrate on eating up all the delicious food they serve.

From their own experience in Afghanistan, the Americans know that bombings and occupations rarely work, as Biden admitted when he cautioned Israel this time. They should explain this to their client state in Jerusalem.

Tariq doesn't get that Israel's occupation of the West Bank and the Golan Heights has worked. Gaza however is an arid shithole.

The Israeli occupation of Palestine, like other variants elsewhere, as the Israeli historian Benny Morris tells us, was “founded on brute force, repression and fear, collaboration and treachery, beatings and torture chambers and daily intimidation, humiliation, and manipulation… and was always a brutal and mortifying experience for the occupied”.

This was less so in Israel than its Arab neighbours- unless they neglected the torturing, as happened in Lebanon, and the place fell apart completely.

If Tariq had wanted torture chambers, he would have found plenty in his native Pakistan. Say what you like about the Punjabi policeman. Nobody can roll a 'ghotna' better.

Neither Ariel Sharon nor Benjamin Netanyahu and his fascist sidekicks have succeeded in crushing Gaza yet.

They didn't bother. But that was before the Brotherhood decided to sacrifice Gaza so as to keep its foothold in Erdogan's Turkey.

Now, the world is watching again.

The world watched two Gulf Wars and treated them like a sort of video game. No doubt, by the end of the decade, Israel will be using robots and drones to police Palestinian areas. Their 'smart wall' turned out to be as stupid as shit. But its replacement might have AI enhancements of some currently unimaginable type. Israel will get even richer selling an 'apartheid' enforcement technology so that the rich can grab land and water rights from the poor and keep them at a distance in what are essentially labour camps.

This is the triumph that ordinary Palestinians of every hue are celebrating despite the persistent pain and atrocities.

I didn't know that Gazans were celebrating. But then I am a stupid kaffir from the Deccan. Only a great Punjabi intellectual can understand the true Marxian dialectics whereby Gazans screaming in pain and weeping for their loved ones are all actually dancing 'bhangra' and celebrating like anything.
