There is no 'Congress boycott'. Three invited Congress leaders decided not to attend. But the newly elected Congress administration in Karnataka has announced it will organize public celebration of  the January 22nd 'pran prathishta' inauguration ceremony. The Hindustan Times reports that Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar defended his government’s decision to celebrate the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22, saying “ultimately we all are Hindus”. It is also noticeable that Kamal Nath and his son are organizing a 21 day long Sri Ram Mahotsav in their family stronghold in MP. Meanwhile, senior Congress leaders like  Deepender Hooda, Avinash Pande, Supriya Shrinate and Ajay Rai have turned up at Ayodhya to bathe in the sacred Saryu river. They may pretend that there is something improper about the 'pran prathishtan' ceremony but nobody believes them. They feel sorry for these Hindu leaders stuck in an anti-Hindu party.

The BJP don't want to extricate it from politics. They have gained hugely from this issue.

Why be a plain and simple Red when you can be a Commi Reddi?  

There is no ritual that can sanitise the genesis of the temple that will be consecrated in Ayodhya on 22 January.

Why is this Communist babbling about rituals?  

It exists because the house of worship of another religious community was razed by a mob of militant Hindus.

According to Islamic law, a building which is not used as a mosque is not a mosque. The structure that was destroyed was merely a ruin from the Islamic point of view. It hadn't been used by Muslims to worship sine 1949.  

Those who condone this savagery as belated reversal of the destruction in the 16th century of a Hindu liturgical structure by Mir Baqi—who raised the Babri mosque on its site as a tribute to Babur—are perhaps too benighted to appreciate that they are applauding the very barbarism they decry in the Mughals.

The Mughals were foreigners. Babur invaded India. Commi Reddis may not understand that just as Afghanistan was right to celebrate the killing and expulsion of Soviet or NATO troops so as to reaffirm its sovereignty and religion, so too is the case with Ayodhya.  

But what of those who are sufficiently enlightened to distinguish religion from the republic—which is greater and grander than the sum of its parts

No it isn't. A Republic may do evil shit. The US did genocide of indigenous people and enforced Jim Crow. No doubt, this Commi Reddi lurves Amrika and cheered when it slaughtered 1.3 million Muslims.

Pakistan is an Islamic Republic. Religion is not a 'private matter' there. Various Indian states may be more or less religious as they please.

for defending Indian pluralism from the depredations of this government have, over the past week, castigated the leadership of the Congress party for rejecting the “invitation” to attend the consecration of the temple in Ayodhya.

Three leaders refused their invitations. So what? Karan Singh said he'd have attended if his great age and ailments hadn't made this impossible.  A Congress minister from Himachal- the son of Virbhadra Singh- has been invited and will attend. 

Congress, some argued, squandered a rare opening to reconcile its debilitating contradictions and overhaul itself into a coherent opposition force.

Congress won in Karnataka. It is determined to hold on to power by doing things which are popular- e.g. organizing public celebrations of the sacred event due to take place on the Twenty Second of this month. In Telengana, however, they have been slow off the mark and thus the BJP is benefitting. 

Its leadership, others said, injured the party by failing to appreciate the “mood” of the people, pushed it naively into a trap laid by the BJP, and made it even more vulnerable to the accusation that it is hostile to the Hindu majority.

Kharge's son came out on the side of Stalin's son- who is demanding the destruction of the 'sanatan dharma' of the Hindus. Congress was snookered. Rahul may need a safe seat from Comrade Stalin. The chimera of Opposition Unity has caused Congress to surrender any claim to 150 seats. Tharoor is openly saying BJP will be the single biggest party in the new Lok Sabha.  

“Wouldn’t it be better to join the celebrations with the vast Hindu majority while at the same time criticising Modi/BJP/RSS for politicising it?” Shekhar Gupta asked in his widely read column.

Karnataka is doing so. In Himachal, various Congress leaders are taking a more sensible tack. They point out that the initiative was taken by an independent Trust which the Supreme Court had ordered the Centre to create. This is not a political but rather a judicial and religious issue. 

Here’s the trouble with this line of reasoning: to accept that the spectacle about to be staged in Ayodhya can be extricated from politics is to sanctify the falsification of our living memory.

So, this nutter is saying that the BJP has the monopoly on this issue. They and they alone can gain political mileage from this. Since over eighty percent of the population is Hindu and wants the Temple, the BJP should get all the votes of that eighty per cent. It should remain in power for the next thousand years.  

The inauguration of the temple to Ram in Ayodhya is not a religious event to which politicians have been invited out of courtesy; it is the culmination of the most consequential political agitation to remake India into a Hindu state to which politicians of all persuasions are being summoned to perform a legitimating role.

This nutter said that India had become a Hindu state a decade ago. Now he is saying that any opposition to BJP must be based on opposition to Hinduism- i.e. BJP must have the monopoly of power for at least a thousand years.  

To be present in Ayodhya is not to honour Ram.

We don't 'honour' God. We worship God.  

It is to acclaim the coronation of Hindutva as the religion of the Indian state, to become a signatory to a declaration of Hindu supremacy, to make a cross-party show of solidarity with one religious community and repudiation of all others, and to sacralise victimhood that—if not resisted—may devour India to feed itself.

In other words it is to shit yourself in the hysterical fashion of a Commi Reddi who won't be happy till all parties, save the BJP, declare themselves to be anti-Hindu and dedicated to destroying Temples so as to build mosques. 

Even if none of this occurred to the leadership of the Congress party—even if the motivations of Sonia Gandhi,

who declared, in 2022, that her party would bring in Sankaracharya of Dwarka to build the Ram Temple if the Bench gave permission 

Mallikarjun Kharge,

whose son is against 'sanatan dharma' Hinduism. 

and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury

who is demanding that President's rule be imposed on West Bengal because Mamta's reign of terror has exceeded all bounds of decency 

were more pedestrian—they have succeeded in playing a redemptive role by choosing to absent themselves.

They would play an even more redemptive role if they ate their own shit and got sick and died. 

The fate that awaits Congress at the next election is unlikely to be altered by its leadership’s decision on Ayodhya: the party is not going to decimate the BJP even if Sonia Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge turn up at the temple draped in saffron and bearing lavish oblations for Ram.

Commi Reddi thinks Congress should demand that all Temples be turned into Mosques. Otherwise, as happened in Karnataka, Telengana and Himachal, they may actually win elections.  

The importance of their action will become apparent much later. When this period passes, when its heroes lose their lustre and its cheerleaders are covered in shame,

and when Commi Reddi gains Nobel Prize for eating his own shit 

all those being upbraided today for their disobedience will be commended for striking a gallant note of dissent.

They will also be offered a nice turd to eat by Nobel Laureate Commi Reddi. It will be such a thrill for them.

But what if we never recover from this moment—what if India surrenders meekly to the erection of a formally communitarian state that is explicitly partisan?

What if those disgusting Hindus chose to remain Hindus?  

Then the generations who survey this squalid era for anything resembling decency will find reasons to feel hopeful.

Because they would read this blog and console themselves by picturing Commi Reddi eating copiously of his own shit.

It was perhaps too late, but it’s still something that it refused to legitimise with its presence a political pageant celebrating the triumph of vindictive religious chauvinism over the world’s most audacious experiment in secular democracy.

It would still be something if it just smeared its own shit all over its face instead of eating it.  Dr. Tharoor has endorsed this Commi Reddi shite. This is likely to be his last term as MP. From licking the arse of the Dynasty, he can rise up to Commi Reddi style coprophagy.
