MG Devasahayam & Bharat Todo

M.G Devasahayam writes in Print.in-
Hate begets fear and fear breeds distrust and disunity.

Fear causes you to hide your hate and to overcome any distrust you might have so as to avoid a greater penalty. Devasahayam was an army officer. Fear of your sergeant causes you to show him respect though you hate his guts. Your natural distrust of orders which imperil your own bodily safety has to be conquered by fear of getting court martialed or shot out of hand as a deserter. Armies show unity out of fear of the consequences of disunity.

This explains Congress’ Rahul Gandhi’s clarion call ‘Nafrat Chhodo, Bharat Jodo’ — ‘Discard hate, Unite India’.

It explains nothing. Congress hates the BJP though other parties- like TMC and AAP have also taken seats from them. It keeps splitting and will continue splitting. Forget about uniting the country, it can't unite itself.

But leaving out Gujarat, where the hate really originated, is a major flaw in the structure of the yatra.

It is a confession of impotence. Congress is leaving the field clear for Kejriwal who when asked if he would appoint the nutter Medha Patkar C.M asked if Modi would appoint Sonia PM. I should explain, Patkar tried to keep Narmada water from Gujarat. She is hated there.

I belong to Kanyakumari and have closely watched the Bharat Jodo Yatra as it traversed this Tamil Nadu district and entered neighbouring Kerala.

Some crazy Christian pastor harangued Rahul about how Christ, not Shakti, was the true God. The video has gone viral. This won't play well in the North. Kanyakumari, of course, has seen a lot of Christian proselytization for decades and so people are used to such things there. But in the North, it comes as a shock. Rahul had worked to identify as a Brahmin- or, more recently, a Lingayat. He now looks like a Trojan Horse for Christian missionaries. Furthermore, his Kerala sojourn is upsetting the Communists. They will turn their vitriol on Leftists who have hitched their wagon to RaGa. Sooner or later, other Communist parties will follow suit. The 'useful idiots' will have to make a confession of imbecility, submit to 're-education', and go back to being useless.

The yatra, which started off on 7 September, will pass through 12 states/union territories covering 3,570 Km over 150 days and culminate in Kashmir.

Unless RaGa loses interest and goes off on one of his foreign jaunts.

To understand the urge behind uniting India by undertaking this yatra, we have to go back to the Constitution of India and its conceptual base that envisages the territories of the Indian Union to be autonomous units exercising all powers and functions of the government and administration, except those assigned to or vested in the Union.

This is nonsense. It was obvious that India needed a strong center. The Princely States had to be integrated. Sooner or later, the demand for linguistic states would have to be conceded. But even after Andhra Pradesh split off from Madras, there still had to be a further carve up of that state. Only the Center gets to decide what is or isn't a State. Thus the Constitution is unitary. There is no 'dual sovereignty' like that of the USA. Rahul doesn't get this because he is a cretin. But Devasahayam didn't go to Harvard or Cambridge. He has no excuse for such ignorance.

The Constitution that “We, The People” gave to ourselves emphasised on Fraternity:

which means brotherhood not friendship

referring to friendship and support between people who feel they are closely linked to each other. Perhaps the most significant sentence in the Preamble is “to promote among them all Fraternity, assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the nation.” This is the essence of India’s abiding principle ‘unity in diversity’.

No. It is unity in fraternity- brotherhood, or common descent.

This basic core is fortified by the very first Article of the Constitution, which declares India as the “Union of States”,

but only the Union Government gets to decide what is or isn't a State or Union Territory. Thus, the Constitution is unitary. In 2016 the Supreme Court declared that even J&K had no 'shred' of sovereignty.

clearly outlining its federal, composite and plural nature.

Sadly, it is the Supreme Court- not some retired IAS officer- which decides how the Constitution should be interpreted. Their view is that there is no dual sovereignty. India is unitary, not federal.

Its several flaws and shortcomings notwithstanding, the Constitution is India’s charter of democratic governance, and any assault and subversion of the constitutional scheme of things could undermine and even destroy the unity and integrity of the nation and its people.

This guy was JP's jailor during the Emergency. No particle of India's unity and integrity was destroyed at that time. On the other hand the existence of a political dynasty is a clear indication that democratic governance is not occurring- probably because even IAS officers were as stupid as shit.

It happened in 1975, under Indira Gandhi’s rule. But the first major assault on India’s ‘constitutional scheme of things’ did not last long and was defeated in March 1977 by the collective will of the people.

She held elections probably because she feared that Sanju's chums would bump her off. But JP and Kripalani went and made Morarji the Prime Minister. Indira got back in within three years as the 'Janata' coalition collapsed. Hatred of the RSS undid it. The dynasty was firmly in the saddle. But assassination has a way of tempering hereditary autocracy. Rahul didn't become PM because he didn't want to get shot or blown up like his Granny or his Daddy. But Congress won't let anyone else be PM either. So we have to wait till Kejriwal or some other challenger grows strong enough to give the country an alternative to Modi.

The Janata Party government took immediate steps to dismantle the authoritarian features of the Emergency regime and restore liberal democracy.

They also restored the dynasty's rule by being utterly crap.

All Emergency detenus were released. It reinstated fundamental rights and full freedom to the press, political parties and individuals. The reignited democracy was back on rails.

& went off them on the 'dual membership' issue. Hatred of the Sangh destroyed the Janata Morcha. On the other hand hatred of the utterly useless Congress party which is clinging to the cretin Rahul is helping other parties to take seats from Congress.

But the damage had been done with the unity and integrity of the country rudely shaken. One episode at the height of Emergency when I was District Magistrate of Chandigarh highlights this.

Jayaprakash Narayan, or JP as he was popularly known, was a prisoner and under my care while his incarceration was being monitored by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi herself. It was at a dinner hosted by a common friend wherein stalwarts like P.N. Haksar and T.N. Kaul,

Haksar had lost clout because of Sanjay. Later Sonia, who had her own reason to hate Sanjay and then Menaka, took Haksar's advise.

close confidants of the PM, were present along with a few senior IAS officers. As the party was warming up, Kaul taunted me: “Young man, we hear you are taking good care of JP and we also hear you are not happy with the Emergency. May we know the reasons?”

I was reluctant to respond but was goaded into it by the host and Haksar. “Sir, I am from the southern-most tip of India and as a toddler I have gone through the pangs of poverty and privation as India became a free nation adopting the path of democracy. Since then, I have believed freedom and democracy are India’s most precious assets without which there could be neither unity nor integrity nor prosperity. Both these assets stand extinguished now and you have arrested and jailed the 73-year-old JP who was one among the stalwarts who made freedom and democracy possible even when he is in poor health. How do you expect me to be happy?” I said.

Stalin- the current CM of this unhappy jailor's State- was brutally tortured during the Emergency.

There was stunned silence, which was broken by Haksar who asked about my forecast for the country and its future. Unable to contain myself, I blurted out that if this kind of assault on freedom and democracy goes on, in six decades, India will disintegrate.

Indira lost in the North. She won in the South- indeed, that's where she returned to Parliament from.

I gave cogent reasons and a convincing chronology. We are in that sixth decade — 2020 to 2029 — now and what I stated then appears to be coming true,

to a senile cretin.

despite the delusions of some that the country is united and strong.

Does this fool also think Congress is united and strong? Perhaps. The fact of the matter is that this guy didn't resign during the Emergency. He didn't really give a shit about Democracy. He liked the power and perks of being an IAS office.

Under the current ruling dispensation, even without any formal Emergency, unity and integrity of the nation is under grave threat.

Has Stalin been jailed again? Has any politician?

Constant attacks on federalism

which does not exist

and politics of hate and bigotry

against Hindus in Kanyakumari

apart, the constitutionally covenanted institutions of democratic governance, which keep the country and its people united, are being captured and subdued.

Nonsense! Nobody thinks the Election Commission is partisan.

The Office of the President, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, has been reduced to a politically convenient but functionally ineffective dummy.

That happened long ago. People like Zakir Hussein and Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed were utter nonentities. Patil used to cook food for Indira. On which planet has this cretin been living all these years?

Governors in states and Raj Bhavans

Raj Bhavans are in states. Has this man had a stroke? Probably.

are seemingly nothing but an extended arm of the RSS.

Arm is okay. Protruded turd is what Congress gave us.

Though representing only about one-fourth of the electorate’s mandate, the BJP is running riot and has made Parliament functus officio.

I suppose he means 'res judicata'- i.e. everything has been decided. Functus officio means expiration of office which happens when the Assembly is dissolved.

The higher judiciary, the defender of the Constitution and last bastion of justice, is not rendering justice.

In the opinion of a senile cretin.

No one knows where the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), the watchdog of taxpayers’ hard-earned money, has vanished.

Nonsense! Those guys are just a little less forward in their foolishness.

The Election Commission, the sentinel of electoral democracy, has been compromised and rendered ineffective to combat the ruling establishment’ might of 3M (Machine, Money, Media).

How come Stalin is ruling T.N? Why can't 'might of 3M' bring the BJP to power? How is it that Supreme Court hasn't sentenced him to death?

Ministries, public sector undertakings, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED), Income Tax Department, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Delhi Police — all stand weaponised with their claws and fangs bared and menacing.

They are biting off Devasahayam's dick as he types out these anguished words.

Laws are made more draconian and these entities and agencies are being brazenly misused to deny people fundamental rights guaranteed under Part III of the Constitution and also to morph India from a people-oriented welfare state as laid down in Part IV (Directive Principles of State Policy) to a market-driven corporate state.

Also Christians are being reduced to minority even in Kanyakumari!

Though these militate against the core of the Constitution, mandarins of the Indian Administrative, Police and Revenue Services, who have sworn by it, act like the proverbial monkey that will see nothing, hear nothing and speak nothing.

Says an 'unhappy jailor' who however said and did nothing to cause the loss of his job or incarceration and torture during the Emergency.

Amid all this, Vallabh Patel is invoked with a tall Statue of Unity

because he unified Princely and British India

and Rajpath is renamed as Kartavya Path

because the proper path of the Raja, or ruler, is actually Kartavya, or duty.

to bully the hapless public that they have more duties than rights.

Rights without incentive compatible remedies are meaningless. That's something his generation of IAS officers were not taught. They were too stupid to figure it out for themselves. We always have more duties than effective rights. If this were not the case our duties would be dischargeable by others and all proper provision would be independently made for our care and welfare and the care and welfare of our dependents etc.

What is more, while democracy is being torn asunder, a gargantuan “Temple of Democracy” is being built in Delhi’s Central Vista at massive cost to the taxpayer even as the country is sinking into economic morass with extreme inequity, ever rising prices and massive unemployment.

Democratically elected governments are free to build what they like provided they have the resources to do so. Perhaps, this senile coot's real quarrel is with democracy or the fact that India has a Hindu majority. Why couldn't the Brits simply have made Nehru the King of India before they departed?

But who will tell the people all this? The news media has become mute and at best dances to certain tunes.

Unless it is paid to do otherwise.

The only alternative is to walk with the people and talk to them. And that is what Bharat Jodo Yatra is about.

Very true. It is an Indian remake of the 1967 classic- Dr. Dolittle who liked to walk and talk with the animals.

“United we stand, divided we fall” is the famous adage. The ‘one-size-fits-all’ dogma — culture, language, religion, election, party, tax — is sure recipe for division and fall.

Bring back separate electorates.

But this needs to be understood in its proper perspective by moving with the people.

or animals or birds. Trees however are refusing to join the yatra. They are probably RSS shakas.

Eighty years ago, behind the prison walls of an enslaved nation ruled by the East India Company,

Hilarious! This ex-IAS officer doesn't even know that the Crown took over from the EIC in 1858.

Jawaharlal Nehru ‘discovered’ India. In a free but fettered nation today, overlorded by a West India Company, his great grandson Rahul Gandhi is perhaps trying to ‘rediscover’ India.

Rahul is just stupid enough to believe some such thing.

From the way the yatra has commenced and the tremendous response it is receiving, it looks as if the clarion will be achieved to a reasonable extent. And Newton’s Third Law of motion — “To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction”— might kick-in and India could as well avoid disintegration.

Congress probably has put a lot of money into this thing. When it fails, Congress will retire from the field. Its votes will be shared out between regional outfits. Will they manage to get behind a credible challenger for Modi in 2024? It seems unlikely. Still, Kejriwal has got some momentum. The offer of free electricity and better schools and cash for women is not to be sneezed at. It is good for the BJP to have some competition though, of course, there is the danger of states going off the fiscal cliff. Still, these are the sort of concerns which senile coots or the cretinous Clown Prince of Congress can little comprehend.
