Travel broadens the waist- even in Norway

Travel broadens the waist. Foreign countries are food. Even Scandinavia now has doner kebabs. Apparently, young Swedish migrant workers in Olso considered their own preference for what they, mysteriously, identify as a German dish, to be a significant marker of ipseity defending them from contagion by their noxious Norwegian alterity. At any rate, this is the thesis advanced by one Ida Tolgensbakk who written an academic paper on 'the doner kebab as a symbol of home among young Swedish migrants in Oslo.' What she doesn't say is that Scandinavian cuisine is fucking horrible. Not having to eat stuff which smells or looks like puke is a symbol of home- but a home under happier skies.
