Joseph Campbell- a Sufi perspective

'On his return to Columbia in 1929, Joseph Campbell expressed his desire to pursue the study of Sanskrit and Modern Art in addition to that of Medieval literature. Lacking faculty approval, Campbell withdrew from the graduate studies. He was very insistent, in later life, that he be addressed as Mr. Campbell, not Dr. Campbell.'

Wisdom is a College from which quittance is a cloak

For, if conferred, that Khirqa, Sufis love to joke

Demeans more than one, untasked, demanded

Our Hero, Campbell's, to mask, remanded.
